Happy Easter!

We've had a busy weekend and the rest of the family is enjoying an Easter afternoon nap, so I'm enjoying some quiet computer time.

We started the Easter festivities by going to Eggstravaganza at the Casements yesterday.  Our church organizes this event as a community outreach, and it is very well attended--maybe too well-attended.  We were hot and crowded when we went last year, but this year (thanks to my 5:30 am run with the girls from work) we were up and ready and arrived just after the event started.

Will was an eager egg-hunter this year--check out this look of concentration:

Showing off his haul:

Will loved the hunting so much that he even helped Anna with the toddler egg hunt:

Where'd the eggs go??  Those toddlers are quick.

Anna loved, loved, loved the bounce house slide.  She went down it over and over again.

We spent the afternoon at the pool, then Miss Leah came over to watch the kids and John and I left for a Valentine's Gala with his partners from work.  Yes, Valentine's in April--fashionably late, those radiologists.  We went to a restaurant near Orlando (Enzo's), and it was delicious.  I made John pose for a photo of us all spiffed-up:

This morning, Will ran into the living room and announced, "Santa came!!"

Santa did not actually come, but his friend, the Easter Bunny, did pay us a visit.  Nana and Grandma also sent bags of Easter goodies.  Will was excited about the new toys and crayons, but Anna ignored everything but the chocolate and jelly beans.  I'm a little shocked she hasn't made herself sick with the volume of candy she's eaten today.

When we finally pried Anna away from the "tweets", we headed to church.  The children's choir sang at both services, so we had an hour to kill between the services.  I made a boo-boo and decided we should spend that hour on the playground; I paid for that mistake by spending quite a bit of time trying to dust dirt and playground mulch off Will before the 11 am service.

Anna loves to slide, and she even perfected going down the slide while hanging onto her hat:

I made her dress from the Oliver + S Bubble dress pattern.  I was really happy with the way it turned out:

It's a little easier to see the side scallops in this photo.  She spent a lot of time twirling in this dress--I think she likes it. :-)

I made a matching dress from Simplicity 2586 (view B, belted).  I chose that pattern because it didn't require much fabric. I used two coordinating quilting cottons I bought over a year ago, and I only had 2 yards of each:  plenty for Anna's dress, but not a lot of fabric to cover me.  Mine looked fine, but was a little gapey through the shoulders and back.  Also, I don't think quilting cotton is the best fabric for this pattern--not enough drape.  It is certainly an easy pattern to make, though.  Here's a photo of the finished product:

Finally, I have a few videos to share.  This first is of Anna running around in her dress--can you tell she's a little hyped up on jelly beans?

Next, as promised--Will singing in his first duet.  He was a little shy during the 9 am service, but he did so well in the 11 am service.  I'm not sure they got the words entirely correct--but they certainly sang with gusto:

I always get chills at few times during the Easter service, usually during the music, and today was no exception.  I've posted this song before, but it is one of my Easter favorites and the choir sang part of it at the benediction, so I had to repost.  Best part:

One with the Father, Ancient of Days,
Through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty.

Honor and blessing, glory and praise
To the King crowned with pow'r and authority!
And we are raised with Him,
Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered;
And we shall reign with Him,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
