Anna at 2

The day after the family party, I took Chick-fil-a and cupcakes to Anna's class for lunch.  There are 6 toddlers in her class, all very close in age, and they are so cute playing together.  I brought the camera to photograph the fun:

The next day, I took Anna to see Dr. E for her 2-year-old checkup.  Because she missed her 18-month-old checkup (I know! Gasp!), she was overdue for one shot and I elected to boost her with the new Prevnar13--so she got 2 shots.  She handled it just fine until Will got home.  I told Will how easy it had been and how he shouldn't be afraid of shots.  The minute I said "shot," Anna burst into tears, pointed to her leg and said "boo boo," and started limping.  Drama queen? I think so.  I immediately suggested we go outside to play, and the little malingerer stopped limping and ran to the door.

Anna at 2 years old:

  • Weighs 24 pounds 13 ounces (25th percentile) and is 34 1/2 inches tall (50-75th percentile).  I was relieved to see her weight is still okay because she is definitely looking a little thinner, but I was excited that she's somewhat tall.
  • Wears 18-24 month clothes and 2T.  She's thin enough for her 18-month pants but is definitely outgrowing them in the length.  The jumper in these pictures is from an Oliver and S pattern--I loooove those patterns and may have to do a post about them.
  • Is a vegetarian.  Well, not really, but she much prefers her fruits, veggies, and carbs.  Apart from meat, she will eat just about anything.  Her favorites are mandarin oranges, black olives, raisins, apples, butter beans, and any type of candy.
  • Is saying more words than we can count and using 2- and 3-word sentences.  One of her favorite expressions is "Whoa!", which she says when something is very impressive (usually some big tower that Will has built).
  • Wants to do everything that Will does.  She looooves Will and tries to hug him all the time.  However, she has become adept at getting what she wants and will scream at him if he tries to take something from her.
  • Is throwing some serious tantrums.  The terrible 2's have definitely arrived, along with a big streak of stubbornness.
  • Loves, loves, loves to play outside.  Her one daily guaranteed tantrum occurs when we have to drag her inside for dinner.  Her current favorite thing to do is to ride her little balance bike or scoot along on Will's tricycle.
  • Is still a very good sleeper.  She wakes up around 7 am, takes a 2-hour nap, and is back to bed at about 7 pm.
  • Is a little shy with strangers but overall is shockingly friendly. (Shocking to me, since she is my child!)  She loves to yell "Hi!" to random people in the store.
  • Has zero interest in learning to use the potty, sigh.
  • Loves Woody, Jessie, Buzz, her baby dolls, some of Will's less scary dinosaurs, and her bike.  Her favorite books are "Blue Train, Green Train,"  "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb," and a few of her new birthday books.
Speaking of books, I have to post a picture of how she sleeps at night:

This isn't the best representation, because Woody is missing, there are a few less books than are usually present, and you can't see the 5 stuffed animals posted around the perimeter of the crib.  She has to have at least 4-5 books in her bed--the positive side to this is that she easily entertains herself in the crib in the morning by reading to herself. :-)

So that's the update on our big 2-year-old!
