Soup's On

This cold weather has me craving soups--so I thought I would share two of my new favorite soup recipes.  We've dined on both this week.

This Bean and Barley Soup is a slow-cooker recipe that starts with dried beans.  It is quite healthy, and reminds me of ribollita (the barley is a similar texture to the bread in ribollita).  John and I love it, but I admit it is not a kid-friendly recipe.  Leftovers are fantastic.

We are dining on Italian Tortellini Soup (from the Big Mama recipe) tonight.  It's a little less healthy, but is delicious and Will-approved (I just fish out the sausage and tortellini for him to eat--he passes on the zucchini).

On a totally different subject, John has 2 important dates coming up.  He'll have a followup sigmoidoscopy on February 26th to see how the tumor responded to the chemo and radiation, and he'll have surgery on March 9th to remove it.  We appreciate everyone's prayers and please keep praying! :-)
