Not exactly what I was expecting

I've been working on finishing a post about our Disney cruise for awhile now--mostly waiting to get our official trip photos from the ship, along with waiting on some old-fashioned film development.  I purchased two waterproof cameras so that the kids could take their own pictures on the cruise and they thoroughly enjoyed being junior photographers.  I didn't have high hopes that they actually took any decent photos, but I borrowed one of the cameras and took it on our kayaking excursion and was looking forward to seeing those pictures.

A few weeks ago, I went around the house and located both cameras, and dropped them off at Walmart to get them developed.  When I picked them up a week later, I flipped through the photos.  The first folder contained a lot of blurry images of the cruise ship, many with Will's finger in them.  Sad, but not surprising.

The second roll started with about 10 blurry purple photos.  I sighed, thinking the whole ordeal of getting them developed was a waste....and then I came upon this photo:

Hmm, that head looks vaguely familiar.

Then I saw this:

...and this:

Now, I haven't seen that much chub on those cheeks in about 5 years.  I kept flipping and realized I had developed a waterproof camera from a trip to Jamaica that John and I took in 2007.  We were celebrating the survival of a year of parenthood.  That's sort of turned into an annual celebration. :-)

Here we are at Dunn's River Falls:

I promise John was wearing trunks.  He looks a little underdressed in that photo!

Now the next picture bothers me, mostly because I remember our climb up the falls as a scary, death-defying feat that required all sorts of balance and strength.  Whereas in this photo, it looks like we were climbing the falls with a Tauck tour group:

Turns out there were some kayaking photos on this camera, too:

Well, that was a fun little trip into the past.  I still haven't located the other camera from our recent cruise...maybe we'll find it around 2017. :-)

Oh, you're making me nostalgic for our honeymoon that we took in Jamaica! And I love the idea of celebrating each year that you survive parenthood... we've definitely earned it!
