Just a little further, donkey!

I love watching kids' Christmas programs.  I love all the fidgeting, yawning, nose-picking, inappropriate scratching, and waving at moms and dads.  I do watch them a little more nervously now, knowing that my child may be doing one or all of the above, but I still have a lot of fun.

So I've really enjoyed the last week.  First, I watched Will perform with the preschool choir at church last week.  They did a mini Christmas pageant before the adult choir's cantata and performed at both services.  Will had a speaking part--a small one, but I was really nervous for him. He did a great job, though, especially considering he had to say it in front of over 400 people at the early service.  Here's a video (you can fast forward to the end to see Will):

The fact that I was so shaky for him didn't help my video skills.  And that wasn't me yelling "woo hoo" after he was done, by the way--I think it was another mom whose son had had that same line in a previous performance!  Will was pretty satisfied with himself, and I was proud of him.  (Remember this time last year???)  It also helps that he's one of the older kids now; there are some 4-year-olds up there, including one little girl singing with gusto because her mom promised her a princess doll as a reward.  Wish I'd done a little more bribery last year!

On Tuesday, Will's kindergarten class performed a Christmas pageant at school.  They did the traditional pageant, with the kindergarteners playing the animals in the stable, the first graders playing angels, the second graders as shepherds, and the third graders doing the main characters and speaking parts.

Will and his buddies wore costumes and two of the other moms and I painted their faces.  Will hated having his face painted and so did most of the other boys, but the girls acted like they were getting a makeover at Clinique--which probably explains why their faces look a little more evenly coated. :-)

Here's a video of their part (Will is the donkey in the middle row, third from the left):

Is that some sweetness or what?
