My cousin Elizabeth and her fiance Curt were married two weeks ago (June 11th)...so we packed up the kids and drove to Charleston to join in the fun. And of course I have lots of pictures to share from the weekend!
A quick pit stop at a rest area on the GA/SC border:
Anna had the privilege of being a flower girl, so she and I went to the rehearsal. Here she is sashaying down the aisle with cousin Rachel (maid of honor) and Clara (other little flower girl):
Uncle Tim and Elizabeth:
Anna and Clara "reading" the hymnals:
Anna playing outside the beautiful church (I love her dress--it was a birthday present from Nana):
Clinking glasses with Will at the rehearsal dinner (and yes, that's grape juice!):
Looks like Will's had enough of the partying:
Kisses from Anna:
Laurie and Missy:
Daddy and girls:
Our family:
We took the kids into the Charleston historic district Saturday morning to burn off a little energy. As usual, they zeroed in on the best activities to produce injury--Will sustained a "skape" (scrape) about 2 minutes after this photo:
I did manage to get Anna back to the hotel without any major bumps or bruises, so I considered the morning successful! Here she is just before the ceremony:
Little stinker...at this point I was crossing my fingers she'd make it down the aisle:
Ooooh, pretty flowers! Anna and Clara loved their bouquets:
A very calm bride and father-of-the-bride:
Officially husband and wife:
Missy, me, and Laurie:
Papa and Anna patiently waiting their turn for family pictures:
Anna decided to rearrange her bouquet just a little:
Here's where the flower girls get antsy...at least they saved it until after the wedding!
Time to par-tay!
Beautiful (and yummy) cake:
Anna probably begging Aunt Missy for food:
Twirling:
More kisses from Anna:
Aunt Cynthia and Missy enjoying some shrimp and grits:
First dance:
My favorite shot...isn't that dress gorgeous?
Rachel asked for a shout-out on the blog--I'm not sure she realizes that 90% of my blog readership was at the wedding. But doesn't she look beautiful in that turquoise dress?
Anna and I in our me-made dresses (Anna's is the Oliver and S bubble dress in silk dupioni with some modifications, mine is Simplicity 2444 in Heather Bailey fabric with a belt from some grosgrain ribbon and silk flowers from JoAnn fabrics):
We had such a wonderful time and were so happy we could be there for Curt and Elizabeth's big day.

When we got back home, Will asked if John and I had a wedding, so I grabbed one of our wedding albums and we looked through the pictures together. After we finished, Will asked, "So why did y'all get kids?"
"Get kids? You mean, why did we have you and Anna? Well...." I had no idea how to answer that one. Propagating the species? A little piece of immortality? (Steel Magnolias)
"Well, because kids are fun."
Will considered that for a second, then nodded, "Yep. But kids sure can get in a lot of trouble."
Well said, young William, well said. Curt and Elizabeth: consider that a warning! :-)

That Will....always thinking. You could tell him you had kids to make Nana very happy.
Your daughter is the cutest little flower girl!
And your son? Well, that is one smart boy! :)
Your dress looked great! Love that fabric.
Anna looks like a cheerleader trying to rev up the crowd with her bouquet/pompom...love those pics! I am looking awfully severe during the father-daughter dance! Still so impressed with your dresses...and the fancy bibs, which didn't make the blog.
