6 weeks old

The big news of the day is that Big Bro is 3! But I didn't get to snap a picture of him today before he headed off to school, so I'll get his birthday post up later.

Miss Anna is six weeks old today and here are some photos of her from this week. She is plumping up even more (I went for my postpartum checkup yesterday and my OB said, "She is so BIG! I can't believe she came out of you!" Well, thank goodness she wasn't this size in my tummy.) She has continued to be a teeny bit colicky in the evenings (which makes John nervous that she's gonna turn into baby Will)--last night she was particularly fussy and didn't even soothe with holding/nursing, but she made up for it by sleeping from 10:30 until 4:45! That's over SIX HOURS!!! So we're both feeling perky today.

Here she is in her bouncy seat, with a little company. Will thought she should share the seat with Baby Elmo:

And here she is practicing her pushups. She is getting stronger, can really get her head up a little bit now.

Here she is dressed up for my OB checkup in an outfit from Nana (I wanted to show her off a little).

(I think she's thinking, "Mama, this hat is ridiculous." The hat is my fault, not Nana's. But I think it gives good sun protection!)

Will is at school for birthday celebration number one today. I made cupcakes and topped them with red velvet cake balls--since Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is his obsession lately, I tried to make the cake balls look like Mickey with M&Ms for ears:

It is amazing how that combination of yellow cake/almond buttercream frosting conjures up memories of all the birthday cakes Mama and Daddy made for us girls (previously I would have said "Daddy made", but Mama made the actual cake and frosting--I didn't appreciate that part until I had to do the whole job myself!). It also creates a MAJOR sugar rush (I had one for breakfast this morning and I'm still shaky), so I'm not sure Will's teachers are going to be pleased with me when they're dealing with 8 sugar-hyped preschoolers. :-)

Pictures of the birthday boy later!

She has changed so much since I left...I can't wait to see her. She really looks squeezably soft! Lots of spots I need to get sugar from. Hope Will had a great day. The cupcakes were so cute. Good job Mama.
Happy Mother's Day. Guess you are going to have to enjoy it at Mickey's House!
