Exercising that second amendment

So what did y'all get during the twelve days of Christmas?  We got one broken garbage disposal (Christmas Day), one broken microwave (Jan. 4), and one broken washing machine (last night).  For reals.  I'm holding out hope that the washing machine is fixable, but the other two appliances were not. :-(

Apart from the appliance shenanigans, our new year is off to a good start.  We went to Blountstown on New Year's Eve.  Mama and Daddy hosted us on short notice, providing good food and hunting education.  John is going on a quail (or pheasant?  some kind of bird) hunt with friends in a week.  He's never been hunting, and I really thought some practice before the hunt (with a strong focus on not shooting oneself or one's friends) was necessary.  Daddy obliged.

See one...

 ...do one.

Will liked the pine tree "maze."

Me, not hitting anything:

And then the real fun:

Back home, with the bb gun--which is definitely more Will's speed.  And mine.

Checking his aim:

So John is all ready for his trip, and I feel somewhat safer that he'll get through it injury free.  And he might even kill something.  Anyone have any good recipes for quail? :-)

Love the picture of John and Daddy through the pine trees.
