Never a dull moment

The kids and I just returned from spending the weekend with Nana and Papa in Blountstown.  We had a great time--unfortunately, you'll have to take my word on that, because I forgot my camera.

We got back home last night and I planned to send both kids to school today so that the house would be quiet--ostensibly so John (who is working nights right now) could sleep, but also so I could do some laundry, clean, and maybe even do a little sewing.  I figured I earned it after 12 hours in the car with both kids this weekend!

Anyway, those plans were thwarted at about 7 am this morning when John asked me what was wrong with Will's hand.  I vaguely remembered Will waking me at 2 am and complaining that his hand felt like it had been cut off--I squinted at his arm, reassured him his hand was still attached, dismissed it as one more light-saber-related bad dream, and told him to go back to bed.  However, this morning his left hand was swollen to about twice the size of his right hand.  It didn't seem to hurt him and upon inspection I found a bite on the other hand.  We decided he must have been bitten during the night and was having a local reaction, but I kept him home from school to keep an eye on it.  A few hours and a dose of Zyrtec later:

Still puffy (check out his knuckles), but much better.

Will was thrilled to hear that he may have been bitten by a spider, however, and has spent the day waiting for his Spiderman superpowers to kick in. :-)

Maybe it's just the photo but the top of his hand still looks really puffy in the second picture. Poor kid!

PS--I like Will's retro Gator shirt!

I was thinking "poor kid" but then I remembered that you just spent 12 hours in the car with the kids by yourself, so reallyI should be thinking "poor mama!"
