Five Months Old (plus one day)

I just realized last night that I totally forgot about Anna's 5-month birthday. We've had the excitement of Will's potty-training plus a dinner to go to last night, and it just slipped my mind. However, I think I covered most of her new accomplishments in pictures in yesterday's post, so I should be able to keep this one short.

Here she is in her crib:

The problem with a 5-month-old? She won't stay still for a picture:

I finally gave up on the crib and corralled her into the Bumbo:

Then she started to eat the sign, so I decided we were done with the photo session:

Anna at 5 months old:
  • Is still sleeping from 8:30 pm until 6 am except for one feeding at about 3:30 am. I am about ready to be done with that one--I hope she'll give it up one her own once we start solids at 6 months, like her big brother did. If not, might be time for a little tough love. :-)
  • Takes a long nap in the morning if we don't interrupt it for errands, and takes a few short naps in the afternoons. She and Will plot against me and refuse to sleep at the same time, though.
  • Is cooing, laughing (especially if you kiss her cheeks), and squealing. And blowing raspberries.
  • Is all about chewing her feet. If she has socks on, she pulls them off and chews them, too!
  • Is still eating about 7-8 times/day. She is acting ready for solids--she watches us eat and opens her mouth as if begging for a bite. I'm following AAP recs and waiting for the 6 month birthday --only a few more weeks!
  • Grabs the toys on her playgym and bouncer and does her best to get them into her mouth. She also enjoys playing with the dresses appliqued to her crib bumper.
  • Wakes at 6 am but will lay in her crib happily for another 30 minutes.
  • Is rolling over and over and over...and starting to tripod.
  • Looooves it when Will pays attention to her, even if he is bossing her around (and he usually is).
  • Is starting to outgrow her 3-6 months clothes and is wearing 9 month onesies.
  • Still has the cutest smile in the world! (And, yes, I am biased. But she does.)

Thank you, I was patiently waiting for the five month post. Such a sweet face. Sure do wish you were across town so I could come get some sugar. I love you.
