I've been lazy about taking pictures lately, so I don't have much to post. And I just realized I didn't take a single photo during our recent Vegas trip--thank goodness we stopped at Binion's for this photo or I wouldn't be able to prove we'd been! We had a good time--John enjoyed his conference, I enjoyed window-shopping at all the cool (and expensive) stores, and we both loved the fantastic food. We did the Food Network tour--ate at Emeril Lagasse's Table 10 (where we got to watch Emeril himself cook in the kitchen!), Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill, and Mario Batali's Enoteca San Marco. After spotting Emeril on our first day, I was a little sad the other two weren't actually in their kitchens, but the food was still delicious. Now if only Paula Deen could get in on the Vegas action with a restaurant or two...
John has had a lot of time off lately, which has been nice. He had a random Tuesday off last week, so we took a picnic to Bulow Creek State Park. I talked him into going on a letterbox hunt--if you haven't heard of this, it's a sort of scavenger hunt. I saw it on the Country Doctor's Wife blog, and then googled it, figuring we were unlikely to have any boxes hidden around here. Surprisingly, there are several hidden in the Daytona area, including 3 or 4 in Ormond Beach. So we might do a little more of this on some free weekends (plus it's a good excuse to explore some of the parks around here--most of the boxes are hidden in nearby state or city parks or museums). There's a similar concept called geocaching, which I had heard of, but it involves using coordinates to find hiding spots, which sounds tougher. But if any of you has a GPS, go for it (those prizes are cooler, I think).
I'll post a baby bump shot in the next week or so--I think I'm going to have to make the switch into full-on maternity clothes in the next week. I have 2 pairs of normal pants for work that I've just been managing to squeeze into, but the buttons are barely holding on. John took a look at the baby last week with ultrasound--I was really hoping we'd be able to tell the sex. But this baby kept its legs together--we only got one glimpse at the pertinent area and couldn't spot anything definitive. I have an "official" ultrasound in 3 weeks, so hopefully we'll find out then.
That's all for now...next post: Halloween pics (if Will will wear his costume!).
